also, i have to make a concerted effort to press more firmly than normal. maybe $5 more could get you a trackball closer to the oem feel. it does work, but you can tell it's a cheap, replacement. unfortunately, it feels nowhere near as responsive as the original. you get what you pay for, glad i didn't pay more than $5 total for this.
installation was simple, remove the old, drop in the new and pop the ring in. maybe it's just my phone (since the enter/action function was the reason i had to replace the trackball in the first place), but there is no more physical "click" when pressing the trackball down. it doesn't feel as "solid" as the oem, definitely doesn't scroll as smoothly. i'd suggest trying something else. bought as a replacement for the trackball on my pearl 8100.
you have to be extremely gentle when scrolling, any sort of pressure will make put the trackball in a dead zone between the "scrolling" function and "clicking enter/action" function, so the cursor doesn't move at all. contemplating putting the original in and continuing to just use the enter key.
Glad I got two, one was damaged beyond use. Other than that, they are as good as new.
it wouldnt even stay in. there was no error installation as i have replaced the trackball several times w/out problems. i have a bb curve and this didnt fit like it said. if i turn the phone over it simply falls out.
it happens so quickly i don't know if its stuck, slow responsiveness, or me. sometimes i think this ball gets stuck, if only for a second. you just cant beat an affordable fix. the trackball preforms just as it should, no more. i am pleased it fixed my stuck pearl and the seller had it to me very quickly. all in all if my pearl fails again i will buy this again.
Very easy to replace. Took me couple minutes to get my BB up and running.
